👥 Safe Group Matching • No Random Mixing

Group Matching Standards

How we build safe, level-matched dive teams every single day. Beginners with beginners, advanced with advanced — never mixed.

👥 Quick Answers — Group Matching

  • Max ratio: 4 divers per guide (2:1 for beginners)
  • Equipment: SMB + dive computer mandatory
  • Lanes: Discovery, Leisure A, Leisure B, Advanced — matched to your level
  • Last dive 6-12mo: Pool refresher recommended
  • Last dive 12mo+: Pool refresher mandatory
  • Mixed buddy levels: We split lanes or offer private guide

Our Core Principles

🚫

1) No Random Mixing

Teams formed by certification level, recent dive activity, and current experience. We never mix brand-new divers with advanced.

4:1Max ratio

🛤️

2) Clear Experience Lanes

Each boat runs several lanes in parallel:

  • Discovery: Pool + easy reefs
  • Leisure A: OW, low current
  • Leisure B: AOW, moderate current
  • Advanced: Strong current sites
🔄

3) Dynamic Reassignment

If conditions change or a diver struggles, we apply our escalation matrix: easier site, lane change, or private guide option.

🗓️ Last-Dive Policy

Komodo currents require comfort underwater. Here's how we prepare you based on your last dive date.

≤ 6 months Recent

Quick skills review at briefing. Jump straight into Komodo diving at your lane.

6-12 months Rusty

Pool Refresher recommended (1 hour). Required for current sites like Batu Bolong.

≥ 12 months Inactive

Pool Refresher mandatory (2 hours) + first day on easier sites only.

🌊 Site Eligibility by Lane

Site TypeEligible Lanes
Easy reefs (Siaba Besar, Sebayur)Discovery, Training, Leisure A
Moderate drifts (Tatawa, Mawan, Manta Point)Leisure B, Advanced
High-flow pinnacles (Batu Bolong, Castle Rock)*Leisure B (calm window), Advanced
* Entry strictly within safe windows; final call by Trip Leader based on conditions.

🔄 On-the-Day Reassignment Matrix

SituationActionOutcome
Diver struggling with current Signal + shelter pause; shorten route Finish safely or easier lane next dive
Skill gap identified Guide assistance; post-dive coaching Stay in lane or step down 1 dive
Major comfort gap in team Split team; assign Private Guide Both sub-groups dive comfortably
Fatigue / seasick / not fit Skip dive; hydrate & rest on board Rejoin on calmer site if ready

🎒 Equipment & Nitrox Policy

Mandatory Safety Gear

  • Personal dive computer (rental available)
  • Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) (rental available)
  • Reef hook (recommended for advanced sites)

Nitrox Availability

Nitrox is included free for certified divers (subject to daily filling capacity).

First-come, first-served applies if we reach daily limits. See Policies & Fees.

❓ Quick FAQ

Can beginners join Batu Bolong?

Only during very calm windows and not for first-time current divers. We typically route beginners to easier reefs first, then step up.

What if my buddy is more advanced?

We can split lanes or offer a Private Guide so both of you enjoy optimal sites at your levels.

Do I need a refresher?

If your last dive was 6–12 months ago, we recommend it; over 12 months, it's mandatory for current sites.

How are lanes decided?

Pre-trip form + first dive evaluation + conditions. Trip Leader has the final safety call.
