Crystal Rock Dive Site — Komodo National Park
Named for its stunning water clarity, Crystal Rock is one of Komodo’s most photogenic pinnacles. Located near Gili Lawa Laut, it offers a perfect mix of vibrant soft coral gardens, adrenaline-fueled currents, and abundant pelagic life.
A Crystal-Clear Pinnacle 💎
Crystal Rock is a large pinnacle that just breaks the surface at low tide. Topographically, it resembles an underwater mountain, with steep slopes plunging into the depths and a central "saddle" connecting two peaks. The site is a magnet for marine life due to the strong currents that bring nutrient-rich water.

Typical Dive Plan 🧭
Your guide will determine the exact path based on the current, but here is the classic Crystal Rock route:
We drop into the blue up-current and descend quickly to the saddle area around 20m.
We explore the deep slope (20-25m) where grey reef sharks and huge schools of fusiliers hang in the current.
A unique feature: under the large table corals, you can often find baby White Tip Reef Sharks resting.
We finish the dive spiraling up the main rock to the shallow protected side, exploring the stunning orange and purple soft corals.
Marine Life Encounters 🦈
Crystal Rock is super fishy. The mix of deep water access and shallow coral gardens creates high biodiversity.
Grey Reefs in the deep, White Tips resting under corals, and occasionally Black Tips in the shallows.
Giant Trevally (GTs), Dogtooth Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, and Eagle Rays passing in the blue.
Massive clouds of yellow-ribbon sweetlips, bannerfish, and vibrant anthias covering the reef.
Look closely in the fans for Pygmy Seahorses, Nudibranchs, and Frogfish in sheltered nooks.
