FAQ

PADI courses in Komodo — common questions

Which PADI courses can I do in Komodo?

The complete PADI pathway: Discover Scuba, Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, EFR, specialties like Nitrox — and the full professional track: Divemaster, IDC, DM+IDC Combo and IDC Staff Instructor. Dragon Dive Komodo is the only PADI 5★ IDC Dive Resort in Labuan Bajo.

Is Komodo too difficult for beginners?

No. While Komodo is famous for currents, beginner training uses protected bays and our on-site pool, with max 4 students per instructor. You only progress to drift sites when you're ready.

How long does the Open Water course take?

3 to 4 days for most guests. Starting the theory online with PADI eLearning before arrival shortens classroom time on site.

How much do the professional courses cost?

Divemaster from €1,550 (Rescue level), the 17-day IDC from €1,199, and the complete DM+IDC Combo from €2,550. PADI materials and fees are paid separately to PADI — full transparent breakdowns on each course page.

What languages are courses taught in?

English, French, Spanish, German, Indonesian and Mandarin — with a multilingual team led by William Baillet, resident Course Director, and James, Staff Instructor.

Can I go from zero to Instructor in one stay?

Yes — the Divemaster + IDC Combo takes you from certified diver to PADI Instructor in about 2–3 months, aligned with the 2026 IDC intakes (September 5 and November 15).
