Is This Trip for You?
The Diving
South Komodo sites like Pillarsteen and Secret Garden reward divers who are comfortable with some current and surge. We recommend Advanced Open Water or equivalent experience. Not there yet? Our daily trips to central Komodo are the perfect place to build up — then come back for this one.
The Hike
The Padar trek climbs roughly 800 steps on a well-maintained stairway. Most guests reach the viewpoint in 30–45 minutes at an easy pace. Moderate fitness is enough — bring walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. The view over the three bays is worth every step.
Why Divers Love This Day
Padar's southern sites sit at the meeting point of the Indian Ocean and the Flores Sea — dramatic walls, canyons and swim-throughs at Pillarsteen, soft-coral slopes at Secret Garden, and the pinnacles of Three Sisters patrolled by trevally and reef sharks. Cooler, richer water than the north means colour everywhere.
Then you dry off, lace up, and climb to the single most photographed viewpoint in Indonesia — three bays, three colours of sand, one horizon. Doing both in the same day, in a group of six, is something very few operators in Labuan Bajo offer.
Padar Dive & Hike — FAQ
How difficult is the Padar Island hike?
The Padar Island hike is moderate: around 800 steps on a maintained stairway, taking 30 to 45 minutes to the main viewpoint at an easy pace. Anyone with reasonable fitness can do it. Bring walking shoes, water, a hat and sunscreen — there is very little shade.
Do I need to be an experienced diver for this trip?
We recommend Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent experience, because the southern Komodo sites near Padar can have current and surge. If you are a newer diver, join our daily trips to central Komodo first and our team will tell you when you are ready for the south.
Are Komodo National Park fees included?
Yes. All Komodo National Park fees, including the Padar Island entrance, are included in the trip price. There is nothing extra to pay on site.
How many people are on the boat?
Spyro takes a maximum of 6 divers, with a maximum of 4 divers per guide in the water. It is one of the smallest groups you will find on a Padar day trip from Labuan Bajo.
Can I do the Padar hike without diving?
This trip is built around the two dives, but non-diving companions can sometimes join for the hike and beach lunch depending on space. Contact us on WhatsApp and we will check the day's availability for you.
Ready for Two Worlds in One Day?
Spyro takes 6 divers, no more. Tell us your dates and we'll confirm availability, conditions and everything you need to bring.
