Dive Center in Labuan Bajo — Daily Komodo Diving, PADI Courses and Dive Resort

Dragon Dive Komodo is a PADI 5-Star IDC Dive Resort based on Jalan Mutiara in Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park. Founded in 2016, the resort brings together daily dive trips, internationally recognised PADI courses, comfortable hotel-style accommodation and the boutique Shenron liveaboard under one roof. Two resident PADI Course Directors — Elise Laffourcade and William Baillet — lead a multilingual team that speaks English, French, Indonesian, German and Mandarin, making Dragon Dive Komodo one of the most accessible dive centers in Labuan Bajo for travellers from around the world.

In 2026, Dragon Dive Komodo received the PADI Platinum Professional Development Excellence Award, the highest distinction PADI grants to IDC centers worldwide. Whether you are a certified diver looking for world-class drift dives and manta encounters, a complete beginner ready to take your first breaths underwater, or a dive professional preparing for your IDC, the resort offers a structured, safety-focused environment built around small groups and personal attention.

Daily Diving in Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is consistently ranked among the top five dive destinations on the planet. The park spans over 1,700 square kilometres of protected marine habitat, with more than 40 named dive sites ranging from gentle coral gardens to advanced current-swept pinnacles. Dragon Dive Komodo runs daily dive trips from Labuan Bajo aboard custom-built wooden dive boats, with a maximum of six to eight divers per guide to keep every dive safe and personal.

Each day trip includes three guided dives, tanks, weights, lunch onboard, drinking water and return harbour transfers. Popular sites include Batu Bolong, a current-rich seamount teeming with reef sharks and giant trevally; Castle Rock, where schooling fusiliers and mantas converge on a submerged pinnacle; Manta Point in the southern channel, where oceanic manta rays gather at cleaning stations year-round; and Crystal Rock, known for vibrant soft corals and excellent macro life.

Nitrox (EAN32) is available for certified divers and recommended for repetitive multi-dive days. Komodo National Park fees are included in our current online prices and managed through our booking system, so guests have a clearer total price before confirming. The resort dives year-round, with water temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius depending on season and site, and visibility commonly reaching 15 to 30 metres.

PADI Courses from Beginner to Instructor

Dragon Dive Komodo is one of the few dive centers in Labuan Bajo with two full-time PADI Course Directors on site. This means every certification level from Discover Scuba Diving to the PADI Instructor Development Course is available in-house, without waiting for visiting instructors or external examiners.

Beginners typically start with the PADI Open Water Diver course, a three-to-four-day programme that combines confined water sessions in the resort's private training pool with open water dives in Komodo National Park. From there, the pathway continues through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, a selection of PADI Specialties including Deep, Nitrox, Night and Drift, and the professional-level Divemaster programme.

For candidates pursuing a career in diving, the PADI IDC Komodo runs multiple times per year at the resort. The IDC includes full preparation, materials, and access to both Course Directors throughout the programme. Instructor Examinations are conducted on site by PADI examiners. Dragon Dive Komodo has trained instructors from more than twenty countries since opening, and the 2026 Platinum Award reflects the centre's sustained commitment to professional development and teaching quality.

Dive and Stay Packages

Rather than booking diving and accommodation separately, Dragon Dive Komodo offers five Dive and Stay packages that combine hotel-style rooms with daily dive trips, saving both time and money. The resort has 19 private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and daily housekeeping. Guests also have access to the swimming pool, camera room, dive equipment storage and the on-site restaurant Le Resto Komodo.

Packages range from a three-day, two-night introduction — ideal for a quick visit with one Komodo diving day — up to a seven-day, six-night programme that covers the full breadth of Komodo's dive sites with twelve or more dives. Each package includes accommodation, diving, tanks, weights, boat trips, lunch onboard, and harbour transfers. Add-ons such as Nitrox, equipment rental or PADI courses can be combined at booking.

Current package pricing starts from the Mini Room rate in low season. Full pricing and room categories are available on the booking page.

Shenron Liveaboard — Boutique Komodo Cruises

For divers who want to reach Komodo's most remote sites without the daily harbour commute, Shenron is Dragon Dive Komodo's boutique liveaboard vessel. Built for a maximum of eight guests in four private ensuite cabins, Shenron offers three to four dives per day, full board, Nitrox included, and itineraries that cover both the northern and southern channels of the national park in a single trip.

Shenron departs from Labuan Bajo harbour and operates multi-day expeditions throughout the diving season. The small group format means flexible dive planning, more time in the water, and a quieter, more personal experience than larger liveaboard operations in the region. Detailed itineraries, cabin layouts and availability are on the dedicated Shenron page.
