A Team We Grew Ourselves

Many of our professionals started at Dragon Dive Komodo in a completely different role. Erno joined as boat crew at sixteen; Rudi started at reception. Both are now fully qualified PADI Instructors. Jeffry and Marsel completed an intensive three-year training track to become Divemasters with over 500 Komodo dives each.

That is what a PADI 5-Star IDC Dive Resort with a resident Course Director makes possible: we train and promote our own people, and the experience stays in the house — which is exactly what you feel underwater with them.

For Us, It's All About Service.

Why Dragon Dive Komodo exists, and how we work every single day.

Since our first years of diving — in Indonesia, the Maldives, the Philippines, the Caribbean and beyond — we have experienced diving from every angle: as customers, as guides, as instructors, as managers, and then as dive centre owners.

Over time, one thing became obvious: a great dive doesn't depend on the site alone. It depends on the organisation, the attention to detail, the quality of the equipment, the briefing, the choice of guide, the rhythm of the day, the safety — and above all, the way each diver is looked after.

That is exactly what we set out to build with Dragon Dive Komodo.

Dragon Dive Komodo was never designed to be a diver factory.

We chose a different path: service, small groups, personal follow-up and genuine training quality. We are the only PADI 5-Star IDC Dive Resort in Labuan Bajo, but our pride isn't just in the logo. It's in the way we work, every day.

Here, we deliberately keep groups small: a maximum of 15 divers per boat and usually 4 to 5 divers per certified guide. It's not the most profitable model in the short term, but it's the one that lets us brief better, guide better, observe better, train better — and above all, protect our divers better.

We see too many operations built on volume: more people, faster turnaround, less time, less attention. That is not our vision. Komodo deserves better than that. And so do our guests.

At Dragon Dive Komodo, we built our own organisation: our boats, our Nitrox filling station, our equipment, our procedures, our team. We own our boats, our gear and our filling station, because quality cannot depend on luck or on outside contractors.

Our rental equipment is maintained rigorously and renewed regularly, and we are proud to work with quality gear — notably Scubapro. Regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, tanks, Shearwater dive computers, safety equipment on board: everything is designed so you never have to worry. You show up; we take care of the rest.

After all, you're on holiday.

Our team is an essential part of the Dragon DNA. Many of our local Divemasters, guides and instructors come from Flores and were trained with us, from our very first days. They are professionals we have mentored, trained and helped grow — and who now carry our way of working, underwater and on land.

We don't try to copy what's done elsewhere. We created our own way of doing things: a relaxed but professional atmosphere, a precise but never cold organisation, an attentive service without pretension, and a safety culture inspired by European standards, applied rigorously to the real conditions of Komodo.

We also know that not every diver is looking for the same thing. A macro photographer doesn't have the same expectations as a couple on holiday, a family, an experienced Nitrox diver or a Divemaster candidate. Some want to take their time and observe. Others want to rebuild confidence. Others want to be challenged technically.

Our job is to understand that before you even get in the water.

That is why we put so much care into briefings, group composition, divers' real experience levels, the day's conditions, everyone's pace and the quality of the guide. A successful day in Komodo isn't measured only by the number of mantas you see. It's measured by the feeling of having been well looked after — safe, in the right place, at the right time.

Often pioneers, often copied, but not yet matched — not because we do everything perfectly, but because every day we keep looking for better. Better organisation. Better training. Better hospitality. Better protection. Better mentoring.

We didn't build Dragon Dive Komodo to become the biggest dive centre in Labuan Bajo. We built it to be one of the most rigorous, one of the most human, and one of the most consistent.

Coco Chanel quote: You can take my ideas, I will have others
Coco Chanel — "Take my ideas, I will have others." A philosophy we happen to share.

A true dive resort, built for divers.

A true IDC centre, training the professionals of tomorrow.

A true local team, trained in-house.

Truly small groups.

True Dragon boats.

True service.

That is our difference.
Welcome to Dragon Dive Komodo.
