Quick Answers
How does the Komodo visitor quota affect dive trips?
Komodo National Park operates with a daily visitor quota, which can make popular dates sell out faster. We include park fees in your booking to help secure your diving days. Book early to guarantee availability.
Are Komodo National Park fees included in the price?
Yes — all our trips include Komodo National Park fees (IDR 300,000 per day). There's nothing additional to pay on the boat for park access.
What's included in the dive trip price?
All our daily dive packages include:
- PADI Guide (max 4–5 divers)
- Tanks, weights & basic dive equipment (BCD, regulators, mask, fins & wetsuit)
- Breakfast snack, lunch & drinks
- Safety equipment onboard (O2, First Aid)
- Komodo National Park fees
Not included: dive insurance, alcohol, and optional extras.
When is the best time for Komodo dive trips?
Year-round. April–November: calmer seas and great visibility in the north. November–April: stronger chance of manta encounters in the south. We adapt daily to conditions and tides.
Do I need Advanced certification?
Not for all sites. Many dives suit Open Water divers (Siaba, Manta Point on calm days). More challenging sites like Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and The Cauldron require Advanced certification and recent current experience.
Will I see manta rays?
Manta encounters are common at sites like Manta Point and Makassar Reef, but wildlife is never guaranteed. The best chance is typically November–April, though mantas can appear year-round depending on conditions.
Is Nitrox available?
Yes. Free Nitrox is included for certified divers on all packages (subject to availability). If you're not Nitrox certified, we can organize the PADI Enriched Air course.
Is dive insurance required?
Yes, dive insurance is mandatory for all divers. We recommend DAN coverage, which is available at our reception. It covers hyperbaric treatment and evacuation if needed.
What equipment do you provide?
Basic dive equipment is included in our daily trip price: wing-style BCD, regulators, mask, fins and wetsuit. Premium extras such as Shearwater computers and GoPro 13 are available separately.
Is Komodo diving suitable for beginners?
Yes. Komodo island diving offers sites for all levels. Beginners and newly certified Open Water divers can enjoy calmer sites like Siaba Besar or Manta Point on suitable days. Advanced drift sites like Batu Bolong and Castle Rock are reserved for Advanced divers with current experience. We always match the site to your certification and comfort level.
Do Komodo dive trips depart from Labuan Bajo?
Yes — all our daily Komodo dive trips depart from Labuan Bajo harbour every morning. Our resort is centrally located in town, close to the main departure point. No transfers needed.
What is the difference between a Komodo day trip and a liveaboard?
Day trips are best for divers staying in Labuan Bajo who want flexibility — 3 dives per day while returning to the resort each evening. Liveaboards are better for guests who want more remote sites and several consecutive dive days. For most visitors with 2–4 dive days, day trips are the easiest starting point. Divers wanting a more immersive itinerary can explore our Shenron liveaboard.
